JOHN WATTS log caliper

$400.00

Watts was the brother of the better known Lawrence B. Watts and they both manufactured rules & marking gauges, but log calipers marked by him are very rare. The caliper itself is fairly crude by comparison with later makers, with a square 48" stem & wooden jaws that slide through an iron sleeve with no locking mechanism. Markings are worn but visible. Early log caliper by a rare Boston maker.
